Hundreds of thousands of people have been displaced by the devastating war in Bosnia and Croatia. The victims of this war are for the most part women, children, the elderly, and the physically and mentally handicapped. They have been removed from all that is familiar and have nothing.
St. David's mission is to provide tangible humanitarian aid to the people of Bosnia and to assist in reconstruction. St. David's works in concert with the Franciscan Friars of Bosnia, recognized Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO's) from other nations, as well as assisting local relief agencies. St. David's is multi-denominational and is nonpartisan in its relief. The aid is distributed in areas of need without regard to race, ethnic, national, or religious persuasion. St. David's Relief Foundation provides evidence to the people of Bosnia that they have neither been forgotten, nor forsaken.

Books are Needed for the University of
Mostar - BOSNIA
Dr. Franjo Ljubic of the University of Mostar (Bosnia), Dean of the School of Economics, has requested books, textbooks and many other things because their library was completely destroyed during the war and their equipment is very poor. With the change to a more capitalistic economy any American type of books, etc. in economics, accounting, or business administration are needed.
To quote him: "During this war, from 1992-1995, our University suffered a lot; many facilities were half destroyed or completely destroyed. We need books, textbooks and many other things because our library has been completely detroyed and our equipment is poor."
I personally work with a Croatian student at the University of Mostar and have sent him books to help understand how we view these subjects in the USA. You can imagine the accounting and business systems under the communists, and now is a fine time to assist them in this change to a free world economy.
A suggestion is to contact a college or university near you to ask them if they would be interested in making a class project by donating their books at the end of class, and each student could mail their textbook by surface mail to the University of Mostar. They could also write a little note and their address if they want to on the first page of the book. The textbook should be sent surface mail to the following:
Prof. Dr. Sc. Franjo Lujbic
Ekonomski Fakultet
Sveucilista U Mostaru
MATICE HRVATSKE BB
88000 MOSTAR
Bosnia Hercegovina
Via CROATIA
Telephone and Fax: 387 88 316 597
With Christmas break and quarter/semester end dates coming up this would be an ideal time for any student to help out by donating their textbook for Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration to them. It might also start a fine relationship between the schools. Best wishes and thank you for your help. A copy of Dr. Lujbic's letter is available upon request.

Reconstruction Funds for Dubrovnik
The Foundation for Peace & All Good, Inc. is seeking funds for the continuing restoration of the Old Town in Dubrovnik, Croatia. Many of the residences are just as bombed out as any village elsewhere; and their inhabitants remain as refugees today living in other parts of Croatia or with friends or relatives in other countries.
Unfortunately, the early rush for restoration funds by some well-intentioned organizations had fallen short of their desired goals; and now they are no longer involved. There are many buildings, referred to as historic monuments, that are mere shells. Some are churches, some are residences, some of the old palaces once served as municipal offices.
Tourism, once Dubrovnik's main industry, is making a slow comeback since the war. Like other villages, its economy suffered greatly and many are without jobs as the unemployment rate is nearly 30%.
Our goal is $1.1 million US dollars in order to continue the restoration. These funds will provide the much needed building materials as well as employment for the local people.
Lives need to be healed. Much trauma had been sustained as a result of the needless shelling. The human dignity needs to be restored. Hopefully, with your help, we'll be able to take first steps toward these goals.

Scholarship Fund
The Foundation for Peace & All Good, Inc. is seeking funds for a scholarship program to assist young artisans desiring to become stonecutters. This trade is slowly dying in Europe as the lure of the big cities, with hi-tech jobs and computers attract the younger generation away from home. Professional stonecutters must be certified in order to work on the repair/restoration of historic monuments throughout Europe.
The world renown stonecutting school, Klesarska Skola, is located on the island of Brac just to the south of Split. Its four-year program draws students from all over Croatia and parts of Europe. Upon completion, each student is certified and becomes eligible for immediate employment.
Of the total cost, about $100 US dollars per month per student is provided through donations. Presently, due to the lack of funds, the municipality of Dubrovnik can only sponsor two students this year.
If you would like to contribute toward this scholarship fund, or sponsor a student for one year or more, you can make your check payable in US dollars to: Foundation for Peace & All Good, Inc. All donations are tax deductible.

Pilgrims' Peace Center is a 50l (c)(3), non-profit corporation that was established under the name of the Spirit of God Community, incorporated in the State of Florida in 1976. It is a publicly supported organization described in Code sections 509 (a) (1) and 170 (b) 1 (A) (vi).
Since 1991, the primary activities of Pilgrims' Peace Center have focused on victims of the war in former Yugoslavia, particularly those residents and refugees located in and around the area of Medjugorje, Bosnia-Hercegovina. This organization was one of only two such groups to deliver food, medicine and other life-saving items on a consistent, monthly basis, throughout the war. The monthly delivery of life-giving and life-sustaining assistance continues to this day as the needs of the war victims are now greater than ever before.
The Mission Statement of Pilgrims' Peace Center is:
PILGRIMS' PEACE CENTER MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of Pilgrims' Peace Center is to promote peace by spreading the Gospel of Our Lord, Jesus Christ, and the messages of the Blessed Mother, given at Medjugorje; to provide prayerful and material assistance first, to the people of Medjugorje, secondly to those in the surrounding region and, thirdly, to others, as needs indicate, by means of personal, hand-to-hand delivery of items such as food, medical supplies and clothing; to facilitate the religious retreat pilgrimages of Pilgrimage Tours, Inc. for the spiritual enrichment of all participants; and, in all ways, to give honor and glory to God. The Directors and Operators of Pilgrims' Peace Center are practicing Roman Catholics and, as such, their intent is that the activities of this organization be in accord with the teachings of the Holy Father and the Roman Catholic Church.
To provide prayer support for the mission and its members and volunteers, Pilgrims' Peace Center conducts weekly prayer services at the Peace Center, with additional, special services held in various locations throughout the year.
The current humanitarian projects of Pilgrims' Peace Center include the following:
1. THE SPIRIT OF GOD FREE CLINIC (Medjugorje) - Built by friends and benefactors of Pilgrims' Peace Center, the clinic was formally dedicated in April of 1995. It provides limited medical, dental and optical care for war victims, refugees and villagers in and around the area of Medjugorje. The clinic is staffed by volunteer medical and dental personnel who travel to Medjugorje at their own expense to provide care for the people. Anyone who enters the clinic, in need of help that the clinic is capable of providing, will receive assistance, regardless of ethnic background or church affiliation.
2. MEALS ON WINGS - This program provides hand-delivered food parcels to the poorest of the poor in and around the area of Medjugorje.
3. PROJECT H.A.L.O. ("Help At Least One") - Inspired by Mother Teresa, this project provides transportation, housing and medical treatment in the United States for persons in need of often life-saving help unavailable to them in their countries.
4. PROJECT "MICKEY MOUSE" - As the name implies, this program is designed to treat the children of war to the unforgettable experience of a Florida vacation, complete with trips to Disney World, Sea World and Busch Gardens. Experience since 1992 has proven that individuals who have enjoyed this total change from the environment of war and its aftermath have returned to their countries in a vastly improved emotional state.
5. PROJECT S.A.C. (Send A Container) - This project sends 40-foot containers, filled with medical supplies, medical equipment, service vehicles, building supplies and materials, food, powdered baby formula, furniture, clothing and other items necessary for sustaining life. The containers are sent by sea at a total cost of $6,000 per shipment. Items in the container are either donated or are purchased with donated funds and often total hundreds of thousands of dollars in value.
6. OUR LADY'S OPEN ARMS - This is a refugee housing facility located in Clearwater, Florida.
7. PROJECT "SOLE MATE" - This program provides new shoes and new underwear for refugees and homeless people in Croatia, Bosnia and Hercegovina. Pilgrims' Peace Center accepts only these clothing items since it has been determined that these are the items most needed.
8. PROJECT LOVE - Under this heading, Pilgrims' Peace Center reaches out, in various ways, to those whom the Lord places in its path. When available, Teddy Bears are given to children (of all ages) who have suffered physically and/or emotionally. Clown costumes are worn by volunteers who dispense small toys, candy and hugs, and social gatherings for widows and orphans are hosted by the Peace Center Staff and volunteers.
Pilgrims' Peace Center publishes a newsletter, Pilgrims' Peaceletter, available to anyone who requests a subscription. The newsletter gives the latest messages of the Blessed Mother given to the Visionaries at Medjugorje, details the humanitarian activities of Pilgrims' Peace Center and reports on other items of interest. The publication is free of charge although a $20 per year donation is most welcomed.
Financial contributions are always needed and gratefully accepted to support the humanitarian activities outlined above. Upon request, a tax receipt will be provided.
Contributions of items such as medical equipment and supplies, furniture, vehicles, new shoes and other items of new clothing are also most welcomed. Persons interested in making donations of this type should contact the Peace Center in advance of making the contribution to determine the current need.
Any additional information needed may be obtained by contacting Pilgrims' Peace Center at the address or telephone number listed above.
Thank you and God bless you for your interest!

Home For Christmas
128 families totaling 600 refugees living in sub human conditions.
Hello I am Walt Miller of His Work in Progress and I want to share with you the plight of a people driven from their homes during the Bosnian war. Even today eight years after the war people are afraid to go back to their shattered homes which were bombed, burned or totally destroyed. Back home where dreadful memories still linger of the atrocities which occurred to them as fleeing victims or prisoners of war. They feel safe here in a far away camp but they are also depressed because of the lack of work throughout the country and their present deplorable living conditions.
They are forgotten. Families of eight to ten living in an overcrowded tiny tin hut the size of a one car garage. They must endure the elements as they share a bathroom down the street with fifty other people.
We call it “Flying Below the Worlds Radar” because the world does not know they exist.
We know, and now you know. We are going to do something about this situation for these refugees, how about you? Can we count on you?
HWIP has created a new project called “Home for Christmas”.
We want to Provide Hope by Sharing Treasures. Costs are small compared to building a home in the US for a modest living space. A home can be provided for about $20,000. We can do this but we need your help. We need responsible people like you in each state to tell the story so that funds will be forthcoming to help these forgotten people.
Members of our medical group stated they were sick of eating chicken soup everyday and this is after one week. The refugees live on a bowl of soup a day. We saw some families turned away, without food. However, if they had a home we could provide chickens and a cow to help them be self sufficient and to improve their life style.
These refugees have eaten like this for years. Imagine how they feel? We can turn their life around. We can do this, let us start today.
If we do not help, if we forget about them like the rest of the world, life for these people will be exactly like the words in the song; I’ll be home for Christmas, if only in my dreams.
They dream of days gone by when times were better, they dream of a home and of starting over in peace.
So in the spirit of giving let us give someone a home. If not this Christmas then next because there are many, many homes that need to be built. There are many dreams to be fulfilled.
HWIP is working with another organization which is currently project managing the home building process and overseeing the financial integrity and timeliness of the few homes that are being built.
HWIP thanks you in advance. “No amount is too small and no amount is too great” as my friend Jim Manfredonia would say.
"Flying Below the Worlds Radar” because the world does not know they exist anymore.
Fr. Svet the local priest in Bosnia stated, "I believe that God in HIS providential way will send HIS angels. I believe that HIS Work in Progress are those angels". Be an angel won't you? You too can be an angel. Earn your feather today for helping these forgotten people through providing a “Home for Christmas” and bring dignity back into their lives.
Thank you so much!
